Center of the Nation Concert Association
A Bit of History
The Center of the Nation Concert Association is a private, non-profit organization located in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. It was established in 1992 by a group of citizens who saw an opportunity for expanded cultural and entertainment performances for area resident. The first president of the group was B.G. Arbuckle. Other charter Board members were Floy Washburn, vice president; Connie Skinner, treasurer; Phyllis Eixenberger, secretary; and Lydia Stumpf, fund chairman.

Allied Concert Services of Plymouth, Minnesota, was commissioned as booking agent and has continued in that role for nearly 20 years. During the first year, 600 tickets were sold. Prices were $20 for adults, $50 for families, and $10 for students. Four programs were offered that year: The Duttons, Talisman, Tom Pin, and Welcome Manhattan.
The venue for the series has always been the Belle Fourche Rec Center auditorium. While the City of Belle Fourche donated use of the auditorium for the first two years, the concert association now pays standard rental fees.
In the first year, the series netted about $300, with ticket sales and contributions of about $12,500 and expenses of $12,200.
Since the 1996-97 season, five programs have been scheduled each year. The Covid epidemic, of course, wreaked havoc with all of our schedules during the 2020-2022 time span.....and it was no different for our concert association. We are delighted to continue a schedule of five great performances for the 2023-24 season.
Only season tickets are sold for concerts. Ticket prices for this season are: Adults-$50; Families-$120; Students-$25.
In addition to ticket sales, the concert series relies on donations by individuals and businesses, co-sponsors for each program, and grants from area businesses.
